Over the years when I would have little time to myself I would watch mindless TV or dooms scroll on my phone. But as I get older I want to do something more productive with my precious free time. I will use this blog to document my journey to explore those things that have always interested me. Hopefully some of those interests will turn into hobbies. The goal is to ultimately turn a few of those hobbies into passions.
My current list of interests are:
- Cooking
- Baking
- Photography
- Calligraphy
- Make up
- hair styling
Now don’t get me wrong I love to eat, but cooking has always felt like such a chore. Now that I am going to have more time in my day/week this allows me to plan and try out new recipes to make for my family. I also am notorious with having a major sweet tooth. I never found the time to bake in my busy week. I will have more time to make sweet treats for myself and family. But by cooing and baking I have control over what is and not being put into our bodies. I really want to establish a healthy diet for my family and I.
When I say photography, I won’t be buying a new and expensive camera. I will first use my smartphone to take and edit pictures. Just to play around with it and figure out things like lighting and angles. But once I feel more comforatble I might move up to a camera that is collecting dust in mine and my husband’s closet.
Calligraphy is super pretty. Even just the art of writting in cursive is disappearing. I really want to master both cursive and calligraphy just so that I when someone asks “what secret talent do you have?” I will be one of if not the only person to say “I am very good at calligraphy.”
I have always loved make up but I often feel like mine doesn’t turn out as well as others. Wearing make up really just makes me feel more put together. I also want to get better at applying make up just so that when my daughters are old enough I can teach them how to apply it. As a mom and member of the military I am always throwing my hair up in a ponytail and calling it good. I see all these amazing hair styles that other people have and I want to do that. I want to do more than just a ponytail or wearing my hair down. I also want to do my daughters’ hair and teach them how to style their hair.
